Overcomer (pastels) won a Honorable Mention Award in the Fusion Gallery’s 5th Into the Wild Art Competition. This drawing is the largest that I created at the time. Until this drawing, I had stuck to smaller works. I enjoyed experimenting with my pan pastels for the under layers. Reference photo by Dennis Jacobsen. Overcomer was made with pastels on 16″x20″ sand Pastelmat.
Hummingbird Moth did not win an award, but was included in the online exhibition. Only 93 works were chosen to be in the exhibition. Hummingbird Moth was made with pastels on 10″x8″ dark grey Pastelmat.
