BEST IN SHOW! What an exhilarating and surreal experience it was to win BEST IN SHOW! I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would achieve this honor. At the awards reception for the Myrle Knox Annual Juried Art Show & Exhibition on September 8, 2024, I felt a sense of disappointment when the individual category winners were announced, and my name wasn’t among them. I had submitted an oil painting in the painting category and three pastel drawings in the drawing category, and I thought, “Perhaps next year.” Then, the announcement for BEST IN SHOW began. As they revealed the artwork’s title, it took a moment for me to realize they were calling MY artwork! When my name was finally announced, it confirmed that I truly had won BEST IN SHOW. Along with a ribbon, I received a generous cash prize. What an exhilarating and affirming day!
